Tires are a critical part of any vehicle, and finding the right tire for your needs starts with determining what you need from your tires. The tires and the wheels need to be the right size and offer the right benefits to be the best option for you. 

Selecting Tires

One of the best ways to determine what tire is going to work best for your truck is to consider the ways you use your truck. If you only drive it on the road, a good-quality tire with a less aggressive tread design is going to provide a nice ride, and the noise from the tire will be minimal.

If you are going to use your truck off-road, a larger tire with an aggressive tread might be a better choice. There are some off-road tires that offer tough tread and sidewall options, such as Nitto tires. There are many different companies that offer similar tires with many different tread designs, so take a look at the options to find the tire that works best for you. 

Selecting Wheels or Rims

If you are replacing the tires on your truck with larger or wider tires than what it had on it from the factory, you may need to consider changing the wheels or rims as well. Wider tires require wider rims to hold them, and you may need a rim that sits a little further outboard of the suspension to minimize the chance of rubbing those new tires on the springs or other components under the truck. There are some measurements that are necessary to determine the right offset for your new rims, but the tire dealer can walk you through the process. 

When you start looking at aftermarket rims, you need to also consider the material they are made from. A truck that spends a lot of time off-road may be better using steel wheels because they offer more durability than aluminum wheels. On the other hand, if you want the truck to look good and don't care about going off-road, there are some very nice rim options available that you could pair with your new tires.

If you order new rims and tires at the same time, you may be able to get a package that offers you a discounted price. If you are going to replace the tires and the rims anyway, buying them all at once and saving money may be something to consider. Talk to the dealer you are working with about what they can offer you before you buy your next set of tires and wheels.
